Introducing Grantham’s New Grief Wellbeing Centre – A Healing Space for Individuals and Families

We are proud to introduce "Growing Around Grief," a compassionate and supportive initiative under the National Grief Advice Service (NGAS), a registered charity dedicated to providing essential services for those experiencing grief and loss. Our new Grief Wellbeing Centre, located in Grantham at The Maltings, Wharf Road, is designed to be a safe, welcoming environment where individuals and families can come together to heal, share, and support one another during some of life’s toughest moments.

At the National Grief Advice Service, we understand the profound impact that losing a loved one can have on all aspects of your life. Our mission is to help guide you through the challenging journey of grief with empathy, expert support, and practical resources. "Growing Around Grief" is not just a group; it’s a community. You don't have to navigate grief alone – our team is here to walk alongside you.

What we offer:

  • Personalised Grief Counselling: Our trained grief counsellors are here to listen, offer guidance, and help you understand the emotional, physical, and mental changes that come with grief. Each session is tailored to your unique experience, giving you the tools to begin healing at your own pace.
  • Safe, Supportive Environment: We provide a nurturing space where you can share your feelings, express your sorrow, and connect with others who truly understand what you're going through. It's a place to be heard, without judgment, where you can find strength in your shared experience.
  • Specialist-Led Activities: We offer a range of activities designed to help you rebuild, relax, and rediscover joy. From creative arts and crafts to practical life skills workshops, our activities promote emotional healing and provide a sense of accomplishment and comfort.
  • Family Support Sessions: Grief affects everyone differently, and children often struggle to express their feelings. Our Saturday morning family sessions are specifically designed to help parents and children navigate grief together. Through shared activities and family-oriented support, we help families heal as a unit.
  • Relaxing, Friendly Environment: Take a break from the weight of grief in a calming space where you can unwind, chat with others, or enjoy a warm cup of coffee with our friendly team. You’ll be welcomed with open arms and provided with the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate.

Session Details:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Mornings: Individual adult support groups focusing on personal grief and healing.
  • Saturday Mornings: Family sessions for parents and children to heal together in a group setting, strengthening bonds through shared activities.

The Grief Wellbeing Centre will offer:

  • Advanced counselling services tailored to individuals and families dealing with grief.
  • Creative workshops and mindfulness sessions to help participants process emotions and support their mental health.
  • Community support events to foster connection and mutual understanding among those who have experienced loss.
  • Family group sessions on weekends, providing a supportive environment for bereaved families to share experiences and find comfort in one another.

This Centre represents a significant step forward in the National Grief Advice Service’s mission to ensure that no one has to face bereavement alone. In addition to the Centre’s local services, the organisation offers nationwide support, including:

  • Immediate advice on practical matters such as legal documentation, informing authorities, and funeral arrangements.
  • Specialist bereavement counselling to address the emotional needs of individuals and families.
  • A compassionate care team ready to listen and provide comfort when it is needed most.

Whether you are coping with recent loss or working through long-term grief, "Growing Around Grief" offers you a dedicated community to help you find hope, healing, and connection. These sessions are more than just support groups – they are a chance to rebuild your life, one step at a time, surrounded by others who truly understand.
